Santa Pod newbie

Going to Santa Pod tomorrow for the first time with 3 kids (5 to 13) in tow.

Any tips? Do we need grandstand tickets? Are there big queues to get in? Is there reasonable food on site?

Any other vital tips?

Alright mate ..... You dont have to bother with gradstand tickets as the view on the bank is good, and the grandstand tickets are expensive. Just make sure you get in a good spot for viewing on the bank, preferably the oposite the startline as you see more of the cars, (burnout, crew prep, cars staging etc)... Get there before 10:00am as it will be busy tomorrow, you dont want to be stuck in trafic just as the Pro class start . The final must is make sure you get a good look around the pits as you can see the crew at work on the cars, and can see warm ups etc , it is a true spectacle to be honest. I would recommend Grandstand seats for the kids if you want them to be able to see anything - the bank is indeed free but it is covered with deckchairs and other furniture, and lots of people like to stand up when the big cars come out to play. If they can't see anything they will soon get bored, then you won't be able to enjoy it either !
oh and ear defenders all round - available there and not expensive.

Grandstand seats are only a fiver this weekend, I had one today, normally go on the bank but T/F Tyre shake that close is a different ballgame than from the bank. Bloody hot though, mad weather for Easter, even more mad than the snow back in '08.

Had a great day out on Saturday - what with the drag racing, the live action show and just wandering around all the stalls and all - but did stay on the bank, where there was plenty of room and good viewing. Not sure we'll turn into regulars but great entertainment all the same.

Glad you enjoyed your visit.

Feel free to leave (constructive) feedback here, some of the 'powers that be' pop by now and then, and the viewpoint of a newbie is great to judge their efforts and where they can make improvements.

I think the comment about feedback from first time visitors is a good one. I noted there were new toilet facilities, bankside but there was no water to the old block on saturday and I heard a couple of new visitors moaning about the fact and how disgusted they were about not being able to wash their hands. Thankfully the old units were locked a bit later, but it demonstrates how, even marginal problems can leave a bad impression.

Overall I think the facilities are as good as they have ever been, but like most posters, I have perspective over a nunber of years.
