FIA Main Event Entry List
Discussion
Apart from the solitary fuel funny, a really healthy entry list and indeed one that betters previous years pre-2008 recession. Respect to everyone pulling out the stops and doing the deals necessary to be here in round one and taking the European Championships very seriously. The MPM village should be interesting now it has been completed with the addition of Lex Joon, a racer I have a lot of time for.
Good observation Bill and it is strange how classes ebb and flow in entry level numbers. To think Malta can produce two entries from a small island with all the transport costs etc. I wonder why (big motorsporting) countries like Italy and Spain have yet to embrace drag racing in any significant way ? I have no idea myself... there has long been talk of Italy getting involved but nothing has materialised so far.
Its a really healthy entry list, surprisingly so. This entry list to me represents another small but significant step up in the profile of the sport. I hope the rest of the rounds produce big fields too.

The real improvement in Top Methanol has been since Dave Wilsons domination of the Championship has ended.
Classes need to be competitive to attract people to the class. Pro Mod has been a good example, but its a fine balance and classes seem to go through cycles. We seem to get a number of years of growth and competitive racing which then makes it much easier to justify spending the big bucks. This can then lead to domination by certain teams and then a drop off in numbers, before the cycle starts again.

Indeed. And I wouldn't want to bet against him regaining his dominance now he's starting to get a grip on the car. I'm fairly sure we'll be seeing 5.2s from him this year. Fortunately, the others in the class are likely to be much closer to his performance levels than they were 5 years ago. So even if he does end up on top of the pile, his dominance isn't likely to be as complete as it was last time around.
