Spurred on by JFreturns S2000 thread, I have finally bought an S2000.
This purchase has dragged out, partially because I love my Honda Civic Type R so much and partially because I never seemed to find the right car until last Saturday!

Anyway, this Saturday I will be picking up a 04 Nuburgring Blue S2000. It is an early facelift car. I’ve heard a few people say they don’t like the colour, but I love the interior colour (which is unique to the blue car). Also, I’ve been to look at 2 other S2000s in the same colour and I really like it, I think it suits the low, aggressive styling. I also love the little tread plate emblem to show that the S is a special little car.

My last daily driver was the aforementioned Civic which has been a great car… No costs incurred, other than servicing and the usual consumables (oh and a couple of speeding tickets frown ). I will probably miss the Civic because it was a great all rounder, but I'm looking forward to the S!

The new car should be a mix of great engine and rear drive with brilliant gearshift. I’m really looking forward to getting used to driving it and “learning” the car.

I've been reading various forums and I've scared myself a bit reading about exploding engines and seized suspension. I'm hoping this car is a good un!

So far a couple of things are planned, a leather cleaner/restorer is needed for the driver’s seat and I might add a couple of Tein bonnet struts to keep the bonnet raised (helps when filling with oil). I will also get the car detailed and paintwork protected to ensure it is all looking sweet.

A trip to northern France is planned in February too. Pictures to follow on Saturday!

Good choice, welcome to the fold (so to speak), I also like Nurburgring blue but I know I am in a minority really, forget all the scare stories about engines exploding etc just keep it well maintained and you should be fine, suspension bolts are only an issue if the geo needs altering, if you have even tyre wear then you should be fine also, good luck

Cheers.....Tony..

Congratulations on your new purchase, the S2000 is a fantastic car. Although I have an 02 MY, I think that the 04 MY is possibly my favourite version with the larger wheels and updated headlights. Mind you, not personally a fan of Nurby blue, but taste is a personal thing, what matters is that its an S2000.

I'd have the geometry checked by Center of Gravity if you can, apart from that wouldn't worry too much about the rest really, its generally as reliable as most Hondas. Do be careful when you drive it though, its not an easy car to drive (when compared to a FWD Civic) and lift off mid corner, particularly in the wet, can lead to loss of control. I've had mine 4 years and still don't know how to drive it, maybe the fact I drive it only 3k miles a year has something to do with that.

Looking forward to the pictures soon!

It's a lovely colour, ignore the Ladyboy name!

I was split between the two colours, but ended up with Moonrock.
Hope you enjoy it!

I like the colour too (MY06 Nur Blue)!

Mine has a black dash and just the carpets and seats in a darker blue colour so it's quite subdued. Is yours the entire dash and centre console etc?

The back will step out, but as long as you keep some throttle input then it'll recover unless you've been daft!

Well done you'll love it. I'm running an '05 rnb, 04-06 is by far the best version.

Always wanted one of these but found getting insurance very difficult at my age (19) yet on the TT at 18 I had no problem. Certainly a car i will consider in the future! Im sure you wont be disappointed...

The S2000 is one of my favourite cars, so good I had 2. Forget about blown engines although the bushes are an issue of you want to fettle with the suspension.

The Ladyboy blue comments are true BTW wink

I'm sure that you've already found it, but http://www.s2ki.co.uk is a good resource. There's a bunch of info in the stickied FAQ thread.

The S2K is very sensitive to tyres, so make sure you have plenty of tread and the correct width tyres on the rear.

If you mean the comments about it being the fastest colour, then yes you are correct smile

I've always liked the colour although the lime green one looks brilliant in the other S2000 thread!

Update...
No pictures yet, weather has been awful! Been out in the S quite a bit, still getting used to the driving position.

I think the S "feels" fast a lot of the time (maybe because it's low and makes a good noise). This is not a criticism, I'm not a big fan of over assisted and insulated "performance" cars. The S has a nice rawness to it, from the noise, the lack of traction control and the manic engine.

Very different car to drive than my old EP3 (which I expected). The engine is utterly bonkers! Can't wait till summer!
