Honda Civic Gen 2 (1983!)- Alternative Parts

Really struggling to find any model specific forums for my newest addition:

specifically i need some advice on alternative parts. I'm after a set of boot gas springs/struts as oem parts are not available (and even if they were they are more than 25% of the value of the car for a pair!
