Where to get a track-prepped car insured?
Discussion
I've insured classics before but never a proper track-focused car. Can anybody suggest companies who look kindly on roll-cages, engine swaps, semi-slick tyres etc? I don't need track day cover (although it would be a nice bonus), just normal road use.
I called Mannings yesterday to get on their Porsche scheme, but they weren't interested. I haven't tried the usual Adrian Flux, Richard Egger options yet.

I'm with www.brentacre.co.uk
I've got a unlimited modification policy for my track car, the only thing i have to tell them is if i do any modifications that increase engine performance.
Also this policy is costing me less than what i paid when the car was completely standard.

i went through adrian flux and they got me a good deal on a road rally policy, designed for rally cars travelling between stages.
only thing to watch out for is limited mileage policies count your track miles as road miles, they want me to get all track miles signed off by the TDO which seems like a PITA.

I've used these people in the past, they were good to deal with http://www.competition-car-insurance.co.uk/

Brentacre not interested unfortunately. They were helpful on the phone though.
Adrian Flux about double what I expected to pay.
£750+ fully comp best so far.
was that limited mileage?Adrian Flux about double what I expected to pay.

i think it comes down to age, i'm 23 with no NCB to use on the car and i'm paying around £650 TPFT for 3000miles/year, i didnt feel it was extorsion given to insure the car with 6 years NCB unmodified was £800+
I use greenlight for my track car and my racecar (both are road registered).
The actual policies i think are with Highway... basically all mods were 'free' except for engine bhp increases... my cars have cages, seats, suspension, brakes, wheels and tyres, exhaust etc all 'named' on the policy.

Limited mileage, 35 years old. Competition Car Insurance came in under £700 including track days and <£500 without.
Same age. BMW M3 Evo Track Car. £612 comprehensive including three other named drivers and six track days per year included. Pretty good I reckon. Will be renewingHave you tried Heritage insurance? Not sure which Porsche model you are insuring but they did a fantastic deal on my track prepped 944 and it has come in even lower on this highly modified TVR that I have just acquired. They have a fairly liberal definition of "classic"!
