Having presented the evidence for the prosecution, the accused will now present the case for the defence? >

As can be seen from the other vids, he/they eventually got black-flagged, but context of future events, it makes you (and every TDO?) wonder about the no naming and shaming policy in certain cases on here?

confused

Had no sound here, but really can't see anything untoward besides the awful camera-work.

Blimey O'Riley .............

Hand helds / not rigidly fixed cameras are rightly forbidden on safety grounds by every TDO I know and certainly by MSV which is the case here.

You don't need to hide a camera everytime you go past/can be seen by a marshal unless it's an illegal one.

Clearly planned and pre-meditated breaking of an important safety rule.

Wow... Is that it? I was expecting some blunder, or dangerous maneuvers. A hand held camera? Who'd have thunk it...

Fair enough, perhaps on an 'ends justify the means', the significantly added risk of a hand held flying around the cabin in the event of a rollover/shunt is worth it when the videos are this good and gripping ..........

So half a kilo of camcorder flying around inside a car where you're wearing helmets is really that dangerous? Remind me to stay in bed.

It's the 'getting wedged under the brake pedal' problem that I'd be more concerned about than someone's face.

Well Spotted & Said That Man thumbup

Now we all have our preferences relative to TDOs, but I'm not aware of any that would be happy/go along with someone filming with any sort of hand held device, be that tin or open top. There's a fair few rules that seem to me to be a bit daft, but this isn't one of them.

Safety considerations aside, it tickled me that someone deliberately & covertly breaks the rules and then globally broadcasts the fact on YouTube including showing the driver's face. Reminds me of the many 'look what I managed to do' vids that have subsequently been used by the authorities here, there and everywhere to prosecute the author.

An object lesson in how to prove you're certainly not the sharpest tool in the box? rofl

Any number of things could get jammed under the brake pedal.

My issue would be sharing a track with someone whose mentality is that the rules don't apply to them.

There didn't seem to be anything up with the driving. Cars got through easily enough, it seemed, and they took the right lines, etc. I'd rather have him on track than someone without a handheld, who was driving like he was Colin McRae, but with only a fraction of the ability.

Not if you've prepped your car well. Why add another thing that could hurt you?

(and why inflict such incredibly fking boring videos on the world anyway?)

Errrrrrrrr .......... isn't that a bit like saying you'd rather be tailgated by the devil driving a pantechnicon than someone with an IQ of 10 in an artic right up your pipe?

Personally, I'd prefer neither.

M, best you start checking hands as well as DLs @ Sign On ........ watch out for people with calouses on one or both index fingers rofl

No... Not at all. I haven't seen any bad driving displayed by the person in question. He's he had a hand held camera used by the passenger, but I don't think that would in any way impair his driving ability. Could you kindly point out which parts of the video showed bad driving skills that pit other drivers in danger, that being the relevant point.

Whilst I agree he didn't drive badly (if I said I made a non handsfree call on my mobile while driving past a school today, but was forunate enough not to have got distracted and mow down any kids, does that make it OK? No, I didn't think so), don't forget that (just like every Track Warning Sign and Indemnity Form etc you have to sign says) 'Motorsport Can Be Dangerous'; I don't wish to query your credentials, but sorry I prefer to go along with what high quality and experienced TDOs of the likes of ClubMSV, Goldtrack, Bat, RMA etc etc etc conclude to be best practice to minimise risk (v pleasure), one of which is the complete unnacceptability and inappropriateness of any handheld filming equipment inside any car on any trackday. At the end of the day, it's their event, they make their rules and if any potential Customer finds them unnacceptable and is unwilling to comply, then quite simply, they shouldn't book.

The relevant point is that this guy allowed and/or who knows, perhaps even encouraged his passenger to knowingly break the rules inside a car that he was in charge of (in the process trying to fool hard-working marshals who have more important things to look out for) and is then even more witless enough to post video evidence of the oh so very deliberate rule-breaking on the Web.

As I find it very hard to believe that even he thinks the abysmal results were in any way worth the deceit, if he wishes to continue doing trackdays (properly!), I have to ask 'Why?' and say 'Silly Chap'; I'd take a wild guess that every TDO's ears in the Country will prick up when they spot a Punto on their Entry List. And of course, the mug profile video will come in real handy if he turns up in another car rolleyes

We all make innocent/unintended mistakes, but I see no sign whatsoever of either here.

Split pin... You cannot associate what the PASSENGER did to driving whilst on a phone driving past a school. Do you own a mobile phone? My god, what if it went under the brake pedal whilst you were driving past a school? Oh Jebus, imagine what could happen.

Sorry, but this all smells of mountain out of a molehill, and I'm out.
