Hi all, I'm off to the 'Ring on Tuesday for the 1st time (I thought it might not be so busy during the week...), and was wondering if any veterans can advise on where to go when the track isn't open? I know Spa isn't far away but plan on going there on the trip home. Any suggestions gratefully recieved.

Lovejoys website has pretty much everything you need.
Take a nice steady sighting lap to see conditions, its quite often dry in places then wet around blind corners and crests. Some of the fastest sections are tree covered, so if wet with the tree sap, can be quite slippy. Proceed with caution then build up your speed. The advice from most people is to try to be as smooth as possible.
In theory people should under-take on the left but its pretty crazy at times and the locals do what they want, so keep as right as you can if there is someone faster than you on a straight to let them past. But be aware people will try to over take you on corners. So just pick your line and drive your own course and let them do what they have too.
Make sure you take your driving licence with you on the track *ahem* sorry, I mean toll road. If you have a helmet I would advice wearing it.
Should you break down, have to stop or be involved in any kind of accident, the marshals number is +49 26 91302215.
