Putting the car away for the winter?

How many of you ignore the changing seasons and keep on keeping on with track days through the winter?

There's a (relatively) cheap opl day at Silverstone GP on 11th December; would I be bonkers?

I guess it'll either be raining, so I'll be on road tyres, or it'll be cold and we'll be struggling to keep heat in the semi-slicks.

Apart from being on a much less crowded track, are there any other advantages of winter trackdays?

Main one is they often do them on a weekend when it's completely out of season and the cost.

I did Oulton in February and it was sunny and although moist dried up through the day, just had to be careful through druids as always.

Personally it doesn't bother me, I did my first trackday at the beginning of last year in the pissing rain at Castle Combe !

I think with adverse weather conditions on the table it helps you to learn to drive the car far better than always aiming to drive it in the perfect conditions.... plus trackdays are cheaper in the "off" season and if the weather's that bad they will call it off and you will receive a re-fund... Happy days.

Its a great way of learning the handling characteristics of your car at more reasonable speeds...also if you get a chance to get proper wet tyres you will discover wet/cold tracks can be every bit as much fun as dry ones

It's cheaper & less crowded, more likely to be wet but not necessarily.
I even keep my roof off with the helmet and scarf on

I actually can't see many advantages of doing a summer day, it's a track day, not a day at the beach.
