Well I've had an entertaining summer after blowing my engine at Mallory a few months back. Its been an adventure sorting the car out but after getting Fenton Motorsport in Kippax involved Ive finally got there. They fitted a new, race prepped, baffled and tuned R1 engine, stripped the suspension and rebuilt it, fitted new instruments including an oil pressure warning system and various other things including re wiring the car.

I took the car to Cadwell Park yesterday and have to admit, I was somewhat nervous about it breaking down again. I didnt need to be. I had an absolutely fantastic day. The car performed brilliantly, handles and goes better than ever and was 100% reliable. She didnt miss a beat all day and is now sat tucked away in the garage ready to go again. Just goes to show that BECs can be reliable (I know its only one day but there really is a huge, huge difference) can be quick, fun and reliable when put together properly.

I am not connected to Fenton Motorsport at all (Although my car features on their site as I gave them permission to use it) but cant recommend Nigel and Paul highly enough. Their website is www.fentonmotorsport.co.uk.

Over winter I'm going to improve the car further including fitting some 888s. Cant wait till next season.

Funny (nearly disastrous) moment of the day came at the very end when we were all stood around chatting and suddenly spotted a car, I think a Sylva Phoenix, driverless careering down the hill heading straight for.......a very shiny blue Lambo! Hats off to the Cadwell Park employee who leapt behind the car and somehow stopped it from rolling down the hill. The chap with the Lambo looked terrified!!

Some pics from yesterday...

Hi,

Was there yesterday having fun in my Clio, saw you on track as you went by, looked really nice and did seem to be running well.

Have to agree it was a great day and being my first time at Cadwell it has become one of my favourites.

My first time at Cadwell. I've always held Oulton as my favourite track but Cadwell is up there too now. Love the esses.

Nigel, who owns Fenton Motorsport, was the guy in the light blue midget. He had a fairly big off at the end of the day.

We're you the light blue Clio with white stripes or the silver (ish) one? Those things fly eh.

I was in the darker blue 172 with the group of scooby's that were there,

I was lacking power on the straight compared to some of the cars there but had a great time through the twisty bits- really surprised at how well it ran really.

I was on the same lap as the midget when it had its off, about half a lap behind- was there much damage/driver ok?

Shame as it is a nice car.

Car is a write off. Nigel was ok, just a few br uses and aches. Many years racing history in that car too (not all with Nigel I should add).

I have no doubt a new shell will be along and spring will see a complete rebuild knowing Nigel.
