Struggling to find a decent price for a set of either A048R's or R888's (225/40/18). Any suggestions?

I usually use Demon Tweeks. I've used camskill in the past but have had problems with both their couriers and their own attitude when their couriers cause problems. I find tweeks as competitive on price but with far superior service.

Anyone (else) heard that Toyo are stopping making R888s next year due to changes in European emissions and noise legislation?

Don't know if the rumour is true but I've ordered a new set just in case.

It's more due to performance regulations. Their wet weather performance isn't deemed good enough for road use. Hence the R1R. Expect to see a replacement for the R888 before long.

Have you tried BMTR in Birmingham?

If you fancy another make, they seem to have a deal on Federal 595RS-R

May be worth a go as they do get good reviews.

I hope so. R888s on my (track) E36 are just fantastic.
