I have never been on a track day and only have a ford puma but have decided to throw myself in at the deep end and am going to bedford this saturday, come along if you can make it. I was interested in this novice day but fear it may be a bit "learner driver" on track with no real fast pace action, this is all assumptions though.
A puma would be great on track i'd of thought, good handling from what i've heard, i'll be in another blue oval

trying to talk some friends to come along too!
agree with the slow pace part but im sure as people learn the track pace will pick up and will be a great day

I was at the novice day last saturday at Bedford, with a cooper s; a great mix of abilities on show: fast and less fast cars and fast and less fast drivers (me - the later less..fast). I might go to the 11th as well - as its an addictive track to try and remember and good place to get it right without too much worry, but just enough to give you that feeling. Its all about learning at your own pace without pressure and i felt none of that at the "novice day"

Woolfie good to hear you liked the day! Glad you say the pressure isn't felt, how do you find the staff on site? Organisers marshalls etc? I'd like to think the're fairly easy to talk to / informitive?
Marshalls were fine; i saw one shaking his head as i got the track totally wrong at the end of the circuit (and i did a dodgy manouevre) when the sun was directly in my eyes at 4.40 ish. The msv peeps were very helpful and all made it feel very normal and not patronising.Edited by Woolfie on Friday 20th January 12:56
Looks like there'll be a few of us learning the ropes on the 11th then! I'm also booked in and will be seeing how I get on with my Boxster (silver W-reg, for anyone looking for me, or wondering why the porsche is so slow on the day!).
Will try to catch some of you on the day so we can compare notes on how we're getting on!
