Thruxton- lack of track days.

Such a shame/waste that at Thruxton there is only has a handful of track day events each year and even then the killer is that they have a 90db limit, even my Seat lcr with sports exhaust would comfortably fail that

Handful it's been one or two private trackdays and couple of ARDS accompanied test days each year for past few years.

TBH I'd imagine it's probably also economics at play as Thruxton seem to be able to run a decent number of experience days per year. I'd guess circuit run experince events are more profitable than general trackdays when the overall number of allowable events is so limited. Shame really as it is a top notch circuit and a summer date would be fantastic.

It really is a shame. However I'm not too sad as this season I have a race Saturday and Sunday and a full day's testing on the Friday

Generally speaking, much more expensive and the noise limits are lower.

Right-left-right chicane then flat out until another right-left-right chicane. Rinse and repeat.

It's a great racing venue, but insanely fast! Slipstreaming, flat out on the ragged edge, etc, etc. I can't imagine it would be the same on a trackday.

Looks pretty good to me. I would love to do it but so few days available. Bit like Croft I suppose, limited number of days but fairly expensive. Not like you could miss this and go the following week though. DO IT!

Thruxton is a great circuit, raced there a few years ago. Due to a lack of track/testdays I went out with an instructor from the race school for an hour which was really worth while! Church is a great corner!

It's a bloody fast track. Too many 'offs' and near misses pushed their liability insurance. They have no choice but to restrict the amount of numpty days.

If it's so fast, why don't they develop the in-field with a new section, make it slower and more interesting?

There's a very positive write-up in the current EVO mag, sounds like lots of ballsy high-speed corners. Sounds fun.
They attribute the limited number of trackday dates to the council's noise restrictions - I imagine the prices are set based on supply and demand, given limited supply.


Similarly, Brands can charge because they're so close to London - the £100 extra it costs me is worth not having to make a 4-hour drive each way to go to a cheaper venue. Again, supply and demand - millions of people stuck in London and relatively few good tracks near the M25.

Yeah, looking forward to this year James, it should be good. There are some good drivers in classics this season.

Not quite sure what you're referring to but the issue is noise not "numpties". If you're calling trackday drivers numpties that is.
