Wondered if anyone else was planning on doing Donnington Park on the 11th March with Focused Events. I'll be there driving Focused's Tiger R6 (basically a Caterham-type car - 180bhp and 500kg). See you there!

Nice. See you there. Would it be possible to a passenger lap or two?

Thinking about taking my rather tatty caterham. Preparation for racing there on 31st March.

Booked. Come over and say hello. I'll be easy to spot - blue/black slightly rusty and race-battered caterham. More than happy to give passenger rides.

Hmmm very tempted. Got a Mk 5 Golf R32. Never done a track day but really fancy trying one.

Are they generally accident free? Obviously I know no one goes there wanting a crash, but do people tend to show decent etiquette and stay clear of each other?

Generally yes, people are pretty good at either moving over, or being patient when the person in front doesn't.

There is the odd crash though, but in my experience so far, they're generally self inflicted. I've only ever seen one car take out another on a trackday, and that was because of failed brakes.

Book it. Turn up. Take it steady.

I'm happy to help (as most are).

Is it National or GP layout?

99% sure it's National. They have other days listed with "GP" in the title, which this one hasn't. No great loss really, the GP loop isn't a great addition, and personally i enjoy the braking zone into the last chicane.

Totally agree, the loop is nice but I love chicanes.

Get on it quick, pay the £25 for instruction as well. You can never have too much instruction.
Find a gap, use your mirrors, let the quicker ones through on the straights. Remember it's not a race so go at a comfortable pace. Everybody had their first time, I'm still a track novice. Everybody's there to have fun.

I really don't like the loop. A total waste of pads & rubber!!

Any chance of a ride in one? A VX has been on my wish list of cars to own for ages. Happy to return the favour in my caterham - if you're lucky i'll even fit a harness to the passenger side and find you a cushion to sit on! :-)
