Morning Pistonheads!
On Sat (25th Feb) Im going on a supercar experience day at Rockingham circuit.
Get to take out a Fezza 360 and Lambo Gallardo for a couple of laps and im mega excited!
My dad has a Cerbie but I've never driven it to date, and this being my first event behind the wheel at a track, with two high powered cars they will be very different to my little polo!
Does anyone have any hints or tips to help get the most out of it ?

Its NOT a trackday. Its a 'supercar experience'
Don't expect too much mate and I am sure you will enjoy it!
If you think you will be powersliding the cars for lap after lap all day... then you are gonna be sadly let down.
If you go along expecting to have a small taste of track driving and a chance to sit in and experience an exotic car THEN you will have a great day!!

well what a day!
Using the National circuit. Dad bought me some extra laps so ended up with 7 in the Lambo Gallardo and 3 in the Ferrari 360.
Having never driven a high powered vehicle, let alone a supercar I was expecting great things...and boy the two italians didnt disappoint!
Being able to drive both, it gave me the chance to compare the two and the different characteristics each car posesses. The Lambo felt a lot more user friendly, the rumble of the V10 was abusive and the 4wd had soo much grip! The instructor was very encouraging and I was soon flat out on some parts of the track.
The Ferrari felt much more refined and nimble, almost like its at home on a track. The instructor was much more hesistant and asked me to change up at 5k revs throughout. Although this didnt really dampen the experience in my eyes. The drive you have sure, does depend on who you have sat next to you!
Overall I had a momentus day that I will never ever forget, heres a few snaps I thought I'd share with you;

First Pier... Im delighted you had a great day and lots of fun. Dont let anything i say diminish that. But your enthusiastic Clarkson-esque position makes me wonder... are supercars built for the track?
I love my R8. It's a beautiful car. Sounds awesome. Some people may say its a supercar. While it goes great, really great around the track... it really is not a track car. I know that for sure. It's certainly not 'built' for the track. Long wide and no rear seat, it's not built for the road either. I'm not sure what these 'supercars' cars are built for. People say to me 'good to see you using the car for what it's designed for' which is very nice and I know what they mean cos so many R8 are simply pose-mobiles but it makes me wonder what is it designed for. Even the GT version.. I saw an R8 GT today (driver lovely guy who was going well). He prefers a Westie. I looked inside his GT. Has the same heavy electric leather seats as mine.
Bottom line.. I wonder if a supercar experience should be driving a Lamborghini through Monte Carlo or in the Alps on mountain roads. Whereas a track experience should be taking out an Atom or Caterham etc. or even a Megane Cup or something light with a turbo and roll cage.
