Cheap track time?
Discussion
I would really like to track my car this summer, just to see what it can and can't do.
I've done a few driving experiences in cars like the Exige, and loved every second - although I'm under no illusion, I'm not going to be able to start doing it regularly or seriously using my own car (and finances)!
I've been round Bedford in a previous car and wasn't thrilled with the cones - it just didn't feel very track-like.
I'm Midlands based - so Oulton and Donnington would be ideal really. Is there any way I can get my car on the track for less than the full price of a normal track day? MSV don't have any novice stuff listed at Oulton, and everything at Donnington is full day, full price. To be realistic I'd probably only want half a day anyway, or maybe an evening when it gets lighter.
Am I just being unrealistic? Do I just need to suck up the fact that if I want to track my car it will cost 200+?
Edit: Just seen a novice half-day at Oulton Park for 69 - ideal. No dates though.

Some organisers do half days which should get the cost down a bit or you can aim for off-season events that will be cheaper.
Don't forget that unlike an experience day the total cost is a lot more than just the entry though; by the time you have covered fuel, tyres, brakes, wear + tear and occasional failures most trackdayers count on 2-3 times the entry cost as the real total for the day.......

Hi Apex are a resonably priced trackday company and have several days at donno including evenings. http://www.apextrackdays.co.uk/News/Index/32?index... they also give free 2nd driver, passenger and free 20 min instruction which many others charge for.
