Ring trip : How much did it cost you ?

I'm looking at taking a wee trip to the Ring this year and would like a rough idear of how much it cost people .....

-Petrol / Diesel at the ring.
-Accomodation
-Food
-Any unforeseen expenditure ?

Pensions can be had for about 30 to 40 Euros a night wih breakfast. I lap costs around 26 Euros now I think and petrolat the local garage was about 1.60 th last time I was there but that will have risen a lot as the price of fuel here in Germnay has increased a lot in the past few months. I think that I get around 8 laps per tank.

If you can, a more cst effective way would be to do a trackday with DN or someone similar. Normally around the £500 mark but after around 16 laps you have broke even, there are marshals on track and not too many cars.

Yup, or if you drive out for one night, stay in cheap b&b or camp, do one lap and get a take away then maybe could do it for half of that.

Half day open pitlane session with trackdays.de is €469 (£390ish) P&O Ferry around £94 quid Dov to Cal return, hotel circa €75 per night inc breakfast (£62ish) so basics are going to be around the £515 mark.

Then add in fuel 4/5 tank fulls (depending on where you traveling from in the UK, what you're driving, how many laps you want to do etc etc) and then what food you want whilst there.

It'll be close to the £1k mark, if you take a 2nd driver who can pay half add about £80 for the 2nd driver to be on track so around £600 for the track time, ferry and hotel, and you're looking at £300 per person. Then split the fuel between the two of you same for meals, will be around £500 per person then.

All the prices are what i've encountered last year going to the Ring and Spa and again what i have booked for April and June this year.

I'm going next month on a TF day, factoring in 8 laps, fuel, ferry, and 2 nights accom I'm looking at £600-£650, all in. it is easy to spend a lot more though depending on number of laps / fuel costs etc, probably harder to do it for much less though.
ps. DFDS/norfolk line can do Dover - Calais return for £40 during april.

Depends what you are driving, on a normal trackday in the cerbera I will usually use 2 tanks of fuel.

That will cost you when you have crippled all of the Germans owing them 75 million pounds.

I think i am just going to stump up a grand and go on an organised Track day, all this claiming stuff scared me off a TF day.
dose not seem that much more expensive looking at above prices

Granted If I maim 10 German bankers all with GT3RS's and five kids each then it will obviously cost me a lot more, if we all thought like that then we would never do anything with our lives, granted a proper organised track day at the ring is a better bet, but the cost does put me off to such extent that it would be out of my budget. TF days are always going to be my preference as a result, all risks can be reduced by driving within your own/cars limits, making sure you are not pissing out oil and coolant and treating it like a fast road drive.

I know, bit of dilema for myself though! maybe I will do the track day first, get some experience and then do it that way. Really want to go to the ring but the more i research the internet the more expensive it can get.

The way I look at it is if some of the best drivers the world has ever seen can crash at the Ring (Lauda, Stewart to name a couple) then we are all capable of doing the same.

Having just come back from a Trip to the Ring this weekend Laps were had on the TF both Saturday Night and Sunday Morning (in the Rain) the costs were;

Fuel £320 Travelling from Hampshire via Dover
Lap Times £190
Chunnel £65
Hotel £75

Managed to avoid Maiming Bankers, Bikers and Children.

For a 4-day weekend - i.e. ferry Friday 6:00am to drive the Friday evening session, full day Saturday, full day Sunday, early laps on Monday if there are any, and then get the 6:01pm ferry back - it costs me about £1500. I drive from Liverpool, but usually stay at a friend's house overnight to get an early ferry.

• Fuel (9 tanks) = £500
• Laps (25) = £450
• Ferry (Dover/Dunkerque) = £50
• Hotel (Waldhotel Hohe Acht @ £35/night for a single/double en-suite) = £105
• Food & drink = £50-£150
• Optional 1st party insurance (£10/£1000 cover, with 10% excess from MORIS) = £175/day in my case
• Oil & oil/air filter change before I go = £75

Total = £1500

Those costs don't include any extra wear on components/consumables (tyres/discs/pads,etc.)

It's not worth it for me to do anything shorter as I'd only save about 15%:

• 4-5 less laps as I'd try fit all my laps into 1 day (and you can't buy a 8/15 lap ticket any more so I'd have to buy them in multiples of 4 for £80 each) = £50 saving
• 1 night less in the hotel = £35 saving
• food & drink = £50
• 1 tank of fuel = £70

Total Saving = £205

I got 5 laps out of a full tank I the M3...

Took my Impreza WRX in 2007. Long weekend, decent hotel, 11 laps, total cost just over £700. Spun it once but only went three feet onto the grass (VERY lucky) on a corner with about 12ft available. Can't remember the name now, it's about 30seconds after the start on GT4.

The Impreza averaged single digit mpg (just under 8 if memory serves).
