Hayabusa conversion to car

I have an 03 Hayabusa and am thinking of using the engine to be used in a kit build. Will probably drop it into a Caterham 7 .. anyone recommend a company to do the build?

Or suggestions of other engine/chassis combos?

The engine has done about 35K so should be good for a while?

Also if anyone has done this can you give me a rough idea of what it cost to do a build

Make sure you get his paddle shift gear changer too !! it works fantastic in the zx 12 smart

Obviously westfield do a "mega" chassis which will have all the correct engine mounts and can supply a lot of the parts you'll need as they do a hayabusa engine as one of their packages....but loads of others have been done - look on the locostbuilders and wscc sites.

I have hill climbed and raced a caterham busa and the parts to do it correctly do add up i.e. dry sump systems etc etc etc.If you want to just use it on road with a standard engine and management system it is not as bad but still not cheap.If you decide to do it then drop me a mail and i will try and sort a list of all the bits you will need.

Hi andy.. yep that would be very useful if you wouldn't mind parting with you knowledge

Did you drop the engine into a rolling chassis or new... and what was the spec?

Also is it worth bolting a turbo on?

Hi there,

i have had it as standard 1300cc then 1500cc then 1400cc and now 1585 cc.You can spend between 10k to 15k just on the engine.I had my install done by a guy down south who builds race cars for a living and the job was excellent.It really does depend what you want the car for as there are so many choices to make ie electric reverse or reverse gearbox,hydraulic clutch or cable,which dry sump system or mappable ecu or power commander etc etc etc.there is so much to choose if you want to call me drop me a mail and i will give you my number as it will be much easier.
