I am currently building a road legal track day Saxo VTS, i will modify the car to a decent standard but with lack of space for a trailer etc... the car will be driven to the circuits myself and then given a good go around the track.

Has anyone had experience with insuring the car on an annual fully comprehensive policy that inlcudes selected or unlimited track day usage including the modifications, track recovery and legal expenses etc...

Thanks for any help

competition car insurance

6 track days a year from their list of tracks/organisers, now includes European tracks but NOT
Nurburgring Norschlief, although N'ring F1 track is included I think.

excess goes up for track days but better than nothing

http://www.manninguk.com/ do inclusive TD cover.
they also include slightly different cars like mine.

TVR and Porker specialists but they may do yours.
Had a mate that clained and they were very good. Recommended.
Good luck!

They've covered me for the Nurburbring for the Circuit Days (ATDO) track day at roughly the same rate as UK track days. Cover arranged on the day by phone.

OK, to quote MY policy documents (yours may differ)

"Nurburgring GP circuit (does NOT cover Nordschleife toll road or touristenfahrten days)

"All cover for Track Days must be booked via Competition Car Insurance, giving at least 48 hours (2 working days) notice. NB:- Under no circumstances can we accept bookings for your inclusive Track Days on the day of the event. "

"Please note:- Nurburgring/Nordschleife/Touristenfahrten- The Road Traffic Act 1988 prohibits an insurer from excluding minimum level cover anywhere in an EU member state in a place where insurance is mandatory. However, the cover required by law is minimum level cover. Therefore, third party only to the limits set out in the Road Traffic Act. However, if we are obliged to meet a claim we otherwise would not pay then we reserve the right to reclaim the settlement from you. In the case of tourist days (Touristenfahrten) on the Nordschleife, third party only cover will apply but as we exclude use on a race track or prepared course we will reclaim any outlay with regards to a claim from you."

In my case I was buying one off cover, rather than informing them that I wanted to use an 'Inclusive Track Day'. The rate I paid was approx £12 per £1000 for one day cover.

The policy I now have with Mannings with inclusive track days seems an absolute bargain in comparison.
