Does anybody have any experience of this company, particularly in relation to the TF days at the Nurburgring?
(I apologise for another thread on 'TF Ring insurance', although this thread is geared around MORIS...)

Summary of cover link

Which I believe reads as:
No cover for recovery of vehicle to UK.
No cover for armco (and associated costs?).
No cover for liability to other participants, third parties or passengers (My UK insurance may possibly be obliged to protect this)
No cover for air-bag repairs.
No cover for cost of repair over £50 p/h labour.

Would one say this is fairly standard for cover at the Ring?
Is anybody aware of a claim that has been made with MORIS? I.E. disputes, poor admin, great service etc.

Many thanks for your time.

I think their cover is for track days, not TF. What you have described seems like a bit of a waste of time.

Without reading the link, am I assuming thenthe only this does cover you for is damage to your own car then?

If that's all your after then it sounds ideal, but it's the lack of third party liability that bothers me the most about TF days. Yes your road policy will have to pay out to others in case of the worst happening, but they'll then chase you for the £1M for crippled biker that was your fault. Worst case scenario of course, but that's the big one. A few grand on repairs to your own car is nothing in comparison.

If that cover is on offer for £10 a day it might be worth it to insure your own car.

If you think it means you are insured on TF you'd be wrong given the exclusions you posted. Ask your car insurer as it's their policy you would be relying upon if a claim was made for anything other than your car.

£10 a day? The only time someone I knew ever covered their car specifically for TF days, this was 5 years or so back, on an E39 M5, and the cover was over £250 PER DAY. I don't know who he used or what the cover was, but there's a yawning gulf between the premiums for his and your solutions. Worth asking why.

£10 was my suggestion for what it's worth. Not whatever the price actually is.

Ah, sorry, RTFM!

In any case, the £250/day I quoted above is what I recall him paying.

As someone pointed out earlier in the thread the policy that's linked is for a 'specified trackday',in other words a trackday that's organised, as opposed to just turning up and driving the ring on a tourist day.

MORIS specifically list Touristenfahrten as an option in their drop-downs, and have taken it out a couple of times, but never had to claim, so can't comment on whether their service levels for claims is good or not.

It gives you the same cover as you would get if you took it out for any other trackday in the UK/Europe - in that it's FIRST PARTY COVER ONLY.

You can pay an extra premium to cover your excess, and to add personal injury to the policy.

It works out at about £10/£1000 covered, plus 10% of the covered value as excess.

It can be expensive, as you may turn up and find the track is closed most of the day, so you've spent £100+ and done no laps. It's much better value if you're doing a proper track day.

Cheers for the replies chaps.

Just to confirm - MORIS do cover the Touristenfahrten sessions & it does indeed weigh in at a price of £10/£1000 covered.

My fag-packet maths should the worst happen:

£250 policy
£2,000 armco & costs
£1,200 recovery to UK
£1,000 none insured items
£50 beer-like-medicine
£4,500 TOTAL

Which is a much smaller hole in the wallet compared to losing +£20k in the blink of an eye!
But as mentioned, that £250 is a good chunk of beer tokens, especially if the place is closed for most of the day.

And that's before we get onto the very grey subject of third party cover...

Third party cover is definitely not a grey area

Unless your policy is very clear, your insurers will pay out to the third party, and come after you for the money. Even if you're not at fault, and have a claim on someone else, it might take years to resolve.

If you have no assets, then maybe it's not so bad...

So does everyone else if you provide proof from the TDO.
