Anyone had any experience of taking a C63 AMG on track with regards to noise etc? Bedford state 101 static and 87.5 drive-by. Car has Performance Pack Plus.

I was at Bedford on Friday - there was a C63 AMG there and he had no problems that I saw.

101db is high for a road car. Your wouldn't be friends with your neighbours for long with that.

What about the 87.5 drive-by test?

I had a static measure of 99.8db @ Bedford - highest there and had no issues with the drive-by.

If the C63 is standard you will be fine.

Not intending to hijack this thread but if you are into C63's you'll probably like this smile

I've no experience of this venue, so no idea on the point of the track that measurements are taken, nor how far the readings are taken from the track.

Far far fr being the highest.

The 964 and both 996 GT3's registered over 106db on the static. They gave us a little warning to take it easy and short shift, keep apart, etc past the drive-by mics but still let us on despite massively failing the static. But none of us had issues on the drive-by. I was short shifting past the noise meters on track though just to be sure. They are tall black poles, about 5ft high with fluffy boom mics on top sat in the middle of the grass around the circuit. Easy to spot.

I was there in the C63 last year and passed static and drive-by with no problems at all.

Wow - I have never known Bedford let anyone on that fails the static.

I hope the Council aren't reading this!

Rear engined cars should be given a fair degree of latitude, especially if they have an aircooled engine.

Whether people realise/care/dare is a different matter, of course...

I am really surprised Bedford let you on with a 106 reading. MSV normally let 911s have a little extra due I think to induction and engine noise but 106 is quite high. Shows that the static test is of limited value though if you didnt trigger the traps round the track.
