The problem is with single seat, open wheeled, formula style cars. Not sports prototypes. They're still allowed (at the moment).

Even on a pukka test day they run sessions for open and closed wheeled cars.

It's odd that kitcars are seen as a lot more acceptable (even though they are still often 'open wheeled' at the front e.g. 7 style cars)

2 seats, larger and slower. I think it's more the size and speed of the things that they have an issue with. people just don't see them from their M5's and wotnot. I think the fear was that someone in something sizable might turn in on one and it'd end in tears. Well, that's my theory anyhow.

I'd love to see formula cars again on trackdays. When they were allowed I had no issue with them and I never saw any nasty accidents that might have brought the ruling on.

I guess people just need to organise themselves and get a block booking with an airfield or track. Not sure how many you would need to get the prices down close to track day prices.

Thanks guys. I think Blyton (LINCS) and Llandow (S. Wales) would be worth a look as well.

Do single-seater cars get scrutineered at Test Days, or can you get away with an out of date harness etc.?

Another problem is because they stop so quickly and don't have brake lights, cars following behind tend to get a big shock when they realise how quickly you're stopping when they are climbing up your exhausts.

Llandow does test days and you can hire the circuit for a half or full day. I think its about £140 for a full day and £80 for a half from memory.

You won't be scrutineered for a test day other than maybe for noise.
