I`ve asked this on the photo and vid forum with no response, so perhaps I`ll be more successful on here, basically I am looking for a in car video camera, as its not a soft top I`d prefer the camera to be a bullet type for ease of mounting descreatly, with a box with a viewing screen to tell me that the camera is set up correctly before I start.

I`m aiming more at a bullet camera as I assume suction cups are not allowed on the inside of a windscreen?

any suggestions advice welcome, but do not have bottomless pockets so worth bearing a reasonable budget in mind.hehe

How much are you willing to spend? Do you want to collect data too? The VBox Lite is a fantastic little 2-camera system, although a preview screen is extra.

Forget suction cups - they're just not worth the risk.

That's basically a go pro clone isn't it? I've not used one but no reason for it to be rubbish.

I was going to recommend a go pro, as they are almost "industry standard" for POV cams these days. (They are use a lot by the pros on TV etc) So you'd need the camera and then either the LCD back pack (clip in screen like the one on your link) or the WiFi back pac. That doesn't have a screen but it comes with a remote to start/stop the camera and when they release the software it will be able to stream live to an iPhone (and andriod I think), so it would work as a remote screen basically.

Will come in over your budget of £200 though, but it's very good. (PS the original go pro hero hd will work with the lcd pack pack, but the wifi back pack only works with the go pro hero hd 2)

yes, apparently it has the same internals as the go pro, and the kit comes in at £200 including remote and a whole host of other goodies.

MotorsTV use GoPro HD to shoot the in-car footage for our series. A bit pricey but the image quality is awesome. If you later decide that you want to add data, you could use a smart phone app and GPS receiver and overlay the data afterwards.

A friend used two Contour HD cameras for Goodwood FoS rally course and Le Mans Classic.

The pictures were superb, from both roll bar and screen mounts. It has some sort of anti-vibration system in it, and an 8Gb SD card to quickly transfer to laptop.

I intend getting one for TDs

Clive,

I have this dogcam kit and a separate racelogic Performance box, but about to upgrade go to a single vbox.

If its of interest I will check the full spec of the dogcam( 3 batteries wing mounts, remote etc)
Is good but you would have to overlay any data if thats what you wanted & no sound
Pbox is good too

I got one of these recently http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MkqvYIaQLmg&fea...
from a well know auction site, very good quality, I use it with a roll bar mount.
A good feature on it is exposure settings, by lowering this setting it is possible to get correct exposure with the bullet camera on a roll bar mount, behind the driver.

Go pro hero2 with the wifi backpack, remote and roll bar clamp. I run 2 off one remote. Superb quality. And I got some top notch underwater footage on holiday recently using the new diving case/lens as well as film on a banana boat with the kids, horse riding and even riding the slides at a waterpark so they aren't limited to in car use only either.
