Hi all,

A friend of mine wants to go to the Nordscheife the same weekend of the world super bikes are on at the GP circuit. At the moment the track is showing as open to the public but I wanted to ask if it is likely to remain this way i.e do they usually shut it when an event is on the GP circuit.

Cheers, Tim.

I'm going anyway cos we booked everything. The planner says it's open to public.

I have been a couple of times when the GP circuit is being used and the Nordschlieffe still opens for public use, so you should be ok. Does provide an awful lot of other traffic though, both on the roads and on the track itself.

I was there when the moto GP guys (i think) were running on the GP track. As mentioned above, there was a lot more traffic than usual on the roads but no issues on the nordschleife itself

There's no reason it won't be open that weekend as advertised, although they may funnel you through the old pitlane at T13.

That happens when they are building the grandstands, but not usually when something else is actually running. So it happened to me at a track day when they were setting up for the F1 at that weekend once, but counter to that I have been a number of times when things like the truck GP were going on and there is no disruption to normal Nordschleife running other than an increase in general road traffic in the area.
