What's an ideal track car for around £6k?
Discussion
Hi.
I've decided to give up bike track days and get onto four wheels.
I have a budget of around £6k.
I prefer the twisty stuff to the fast stuff (Anglesey is my favorite track, Castle Combe my local).
I need something that is either semi, or fully automatic (Sciatic nerve issues caused by slipped disc), or with a bike engine in, so I can fit a quick shifter.
Ideally it would be road-legal, so I can just jump in it and rag-it around Castle Combe for the last hour of the day at the drop of a hat.
I can store for the winter, or trailer it about.
I'm not too bothered about racing, but it might be fun sometimes - not critical.
Where do I start?
Cheers

For that money I'm not sure you'r get much that's really quick, most auto's or semi's are slower than their manual counterparts I think.
But, that said, how about a Semi-automatic Mk3 MR2? With the money you'd have left after buying the car you could mod it to improve the handling and possibly the power ( a little bit).

Classifieds - Bike Engined Cars, pick one for budget and then buy a paddle shift system for it.
Coming from a bike, it's the only thing that will get close for you.
There's a few about your price range. Not going to be the last word in handling and sophistication but will be a hell of a lot of fun.
Unless you're looking for an enclosed track car?
