Do any of you guys hire transport equipment to get your car to the track?

I don't have space for a trailer and don't have a van so looking to hire, but apparently van hire companies insurance doesn't cover towing anything so it looks impossible.

Plenty trailer companies around me (NE Scotland), but haven't found any that also hire a van.

If you guys use or know any please give me a shout.

I guess another option is transport companies but I heard this is quite expensive.

hi Graeme,

I own & run my own self drive & lease van & truck hire company.. a few years ago our insurance underwriters withdrew the cover for towing with any of our hired vehicles due to the obvious risks & mounting claims (mainly caravans!).. I can still use my vehicles to trailer my trackcar to trackdays as I have a seperate motor trade policy.. you can however try a company called www.insuredaily.co.uk to insure a vehicle you choose, although they ain't that cheap.. another option is lizard logistics, he posts on here under iguana..

feel free to pm me as I have a few other ideas..

Thanks for that, they might be worth a look if the hire company allows me to use my own temporary cover. Have used that in the past, its ok for a day maybe two but yes could get expensive!

I've heard of lizard logistics, saw them at the ring a few weeks ago. good idea.

i also went through this for a while, it was awkward to get cover and worked out pricey. in the end i got a cheap 2nd hand bryan james trailer for 1k and a cheap 4x4 for towing. have now moved onto a much better covered trailer and sold the bj trailer for just over what i paid !
it might work out cheaper if you can find somewhere to store a trailer and more convienient long term?
