Right i am planning a trip to a few european race tracks in the summer of 2013!

i need a car! i currently own

1.8Vtec mini FWD stripped out (not road legal)
1380 longman race engined mini
1100 mini (currently forsale)
Lupo Gti 145bhp

i do have decent driving experience and have competed previously in timed sprints

now me and a few friends have given ourselves the task of buying a car for no more then £300! and spending only £400 on it but what ever we sell from the car adds to the funds to modify it!

now i need some suggestions on what would be very competetive as it seems like the others are going for cars with big engines but weigh ALOT!

i was thinking something along the lines of fiat cinquencento / vw beetle and doing a rwd conversion on it to run a motorbike engine but i cant get my head around the rear trailing arms and the rear diff (how to make or where to buy)

any suggestion will be considered

quite confused as to what that reply is backing,

But i believe you think it is unfeasable. . . . My vtec mini owes me £106 i had a mini minus which had a 1.3 micra engine running on bike carbs which took me 3 months to finish and cost me £350 now considering those are minis and cost quite a bit just for rolling shells i think what i want to do is justifiable

For that sort of price, good luck.

I recently decided to buy a track car and went for an already stripped out Saxo VTR for about £500, then to get it to the track it needed an MOT (wheel bearings and a few lights and seat belt mountings fitted correctly), tax and insurance. All in all, owes me about £800-900, like you say I can sell a few things off of it to make some more back. A de-cat, decent track tyres and some comfy bucket seats has turned it into a very enjoyable machine. 54 seconds at Lydden Hill last week.

I'm not sure what you'll get for less. Or how much you will spend on seats, brakes, seat belts, tyres etc etc.

Let us know how you get on

Peugeot 306 Gti6 ftw! Cost me £150, needed a spring for the MOT, Sold the interior for £125, full suspension cost me £250 and thats pretty much all you'll need. 168bhp standard...
