So got a mx5, now what?
Discussion
So purchased a mx5 as a track day / car control day toy.
I've never done a track day or car control day - i'm 100% a novice.
What's the best way forward from here?
Should i book a car control day first and get a feel for the car near the limits or is it a case of just get onto the track and during the day you start to get a feel of what the car and you are capable of?
Cheers

If you get the chance, then do the control day. It'll give you a lot of confidence. However, don't put off track if you can't get to one. Book something flat with loads of runoff (Blyton or Bedford) and get some tuition.
Are you on the local MX-5 forum, and Nutz? If so, you'll find plenty of friendly track-enthusiast '5 owners.

Thanks, ties in with my thoughts - think my preference is a car control day first...just need to find one. Are you on the local MX-5 forum, and Nutz? If so, you'll find plenty of friendly track-enthusiast '5 owners.
MoT doesn't seem to have any listed for 2013?
Where are you based?
Here's a list of upcoming track days with MX5s in attendance: http://www.mx5nutz.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=1...

The mx5 has a decat split exhaust or something - i'm not sure how loud 98db is - will i have to buy some for silencer do you think?
Please let me know if you hear of any MoT car control days too!
MoT are releasing dates in Jan I believe. They are pretty busy so I think thats why they havent gotten all dates confirmed yet.
Sign up on Nutz, we are a friendly bunch. Much like on here.
Other than that just go to any track day, there are enough mx5s about that you wont be the only one.
As for noise, you wont be over 98db. I have a single exit exhaust with decat thats only 91db max depending on when I get it tested.
