So, I've booked myself in for a series of track days.
After reading around on the internet, just wondered whether it is a good idea to get a separate set of tires.
Ideally don't want to run through my 4 x continentals and was thinking of ust getting some cheaper tyres for the track day?

If your TD does not go exactly right, do not return here to try to extract revenge. Give them the opportunity to make it right. My experience is limited to a couple of TDOs, but they are really great guys committed to making it work for everyone, so be patient and understanding. If they have to resolve business critical issues first before extending alternative options to you, then chill out!
A second set is useful but if its your first track day I would just use your road tyres, yes you will get some more wear but its still cheaper than forking out on new tyres. I would stay away from 'cheap' new tyres as they will most likely not perform on track. An alternative would be worn but decent old tyres from ebay. I did 2 short track days on road tyres and although I did get some wear, it wasn't excessive. Depends on track temp and how much you are pushing it.
