I thinking of driving the Salzburg-ring in Austria on a trackday later in the year.

Has anybody here done a day there and if so what did you think of it?

Apparently it was Mick Doohans' favourite circuit, the fast right at the end of the straight sorted the men from the boys.

Ten hours from Dunkirk, compared with three for Spa, four for Nurburgring, five and a half hours for Hockenheimring, makes it a commitment that few UK based drivers would consider unless there was another incentive.

Just watching the YT vids, big fast right hander at speed looks scary.

Also nice to see it is at altitude and tree lined (although not too close)

It's a beautiful place set in the mountains I picked up my 964 RS NGT from there about 10 years ago you might want to take a gas mask though as its right in the heart of the alpine farming community and its about may time they do a bit of muck spreading....and by Christ does it hummm......never drove the track but watched a round of the alpine pokal cup it certainly looked a fantastic track great little restaurant I can recommend the schnitzel very tasty.....definitely worth a visit.......might still be a bit snowy it was when I went but it was a beautiful blue and very sunny sky....all in all a brilliant trip and I picked up a beautiful RS NGT

Its the may bank holiday weekend, the ring is open all day sat and sun 25th and 26th, and 30th and 31st nicely book ending this track day....

or you can do Zolder, Hockenheim or Imola on sunday the 26th

Spa on monday 27th

salzburgring on tuesday 28th

and if you are hardcore Spa again on wed 29th.....

The world is your oyster Kid, I know I will never get a chance to drive the salzburgring again so I am in!

Hi, been there loads of times - as a matter of fact I'm going there again next monday. Initially it may seem a little boring but it is a very fast circuit and more technical than one might think at first.

There is very little run off and especially the fast "Fahrerlagerkurve" should be treated with respect (seen quite a few cars ending their life there). If you need to know anything else, let me know.

Regards,
Felix

We have a plan to go on 28th May (as Enduro has said above)

Will be openpitlane and very few cars I think.

If you fancy it!

Hi shim - just checked, looks like you've got the whole track to yourself then!!
Would love to come along! PM me and I give you my details. If you need/want to fill some spaces I am happy to help!
One thing though - don't have a BMW or a (lovely) CSL, can come along in a GT3RS or cup car if that is ok.

NB: They are very restricitve on noise as you might already know (98 db on drive by).

Ade - if you are going to Monza and Mugello you MUST go to Imola also (about 1,5hrs from Mugello and 2,5 hrs from Monza). Mugello is superb, Monza is ok (my opinion) but Imola is not only brilliant, challenging & mad but simply a must!!

yep noise ok for CSL even with Supersprint.

there are 14 spaces left if you fancy it.....road is plenty wide enough for us to get past smile

Wanting to mess with the locals now are we smile Challenge accepted...
Where do I sign on - the link on the Salzburgring page does not work.. I don't mind a quiet day but just wanted to offer my help in case this is a private hire (I think?) and a few more cars would do good financially... Let me know.
