I'm thinking for the tyres. If using trackday specials, like Toyo 888s, will they still perform if its just a few degrees above freezing?

Not initially, but they will warm up and perform better than they did.

Although they won't like any slush/snow/ice they find.

I was on Yokohama Advan Neovas recently and they performed just fine in zero degree conditions. Just allow them a few warm up laps.

I am going to be using my Kuhmo V70A at Cadwell on Thursday, where it is meant to be crisp and dry. I gather in the dry, a semi slick will still outperform a road tyre. I still won't be pushing it though!

Did a day of coaching in an Elise at Silverstone last winter and it was -6C when we started. Couldn't believe how much grip we were soon getting from A048s.

If anything, cold is better from my experience, they won't overheat as easily.

Last trackday was a very icy Brands.
AD08's on my car didn't work.
A friends didn't work on slicks.
Another friend who had the most success, used a soft compound wet tyre.

I had great fun at Cadwell December 2011, once they'd spent a couple of hours gritting the track to get the ice off. Sure it was slippery, but that just made it more fun playing with the limits!

First few laps on AD08s are always fun in the cold but once they're warm they're fine. Dunno about R888s, in only ever used those in hot weather!

Cheers for the input guys.

To give feedback, I was using Toyo 888s on an Exige at Anglesey, it was about 7 degrees in the end, & the tyres were great.
