HI, I have two peugeot 205 gti track, one with a MI16 Engine in it, with twin Webber's on it, front end slighty heaver, compared to my other track car which is a 205 gti, with a 1.9 gti engine with twin webber;s ..... they both have Gaz shocks all round.... but the MI16 handles like pap.... there's only 4 seconds difference in my lap times between each 205's and the MI6 has 70 more BHP with all the bits its had done to it.....

How do i make it handle better on the track

+70bhp? You sure? Tested on same dyno? Seems far too optimistic to me, I'm no guru on pugs but in my hazy brain 1.9 205 130bhp stock mi16 155?

Anyway even if is a real 70bhp 4 seconds is a lot & bloody hard to achive so I'd be happy with that.

I know zilch ref pugs, but on other hatches an LSD, lower final drive, better brakes, wide track, better geo, firmer spring/ damper rates, weight distribution all pay dividends.

Ps wrong forum for this really, prob more help in track days or club motorsport forums

You're probably in the wrong forum and also a little optimistic with the power figures.
My 205Mi16 is on Jenvey throttle bodies / Emerald ECU / wilder cams blah blah and still only gets 194bhp on Dave Walkers optimistic rollers.
A standard 1.9 never got 130 and they tend to get 110 on shoot out days.

To add the characteristic of the 8v engine may suit the circuit you've been using as a gauge -
Generally a well set up Mi16 should out perform the 8v.
Stiffer ARB etc, is your suspension knackered?

thanks for the replies. yeah it defo has 70 BHP ( well 69) more than 1.9, it has 198 BHP and 1.9 has 129 BHP both tested at same place... it has MI-16,
it has forged pistons, new liners, main and big end bearings.
Fully balanced engine inc fully rework and gas flow Cylinder head
PT1604 camshafts- big cams!
Twin Weber 45 carburettors, Longman inlet manifolds and Maniflow 4-2-1 exhaust manifold

( well that what it says on print out anyway, i hope it does)

i cant plant it round corners, its feeling very skittery back end is wanting to come out....
I had it out for first time yesterday , at cadwell, when going over the mountain, and hitting hall bends i just cant keep it on the line ?

cheers

I light skittish back end is how you make fwd cars fast wink

The back end does the direction changes you have to learn to steer with throttle & not lift when it does it. Steering angle is what slows fwd cars down.
