Civic Type R on track
Discussion
Hey guys
Thinking of getting a current shape (2007 onwards) Civic Type R to use as an everyday car with the odd track day. Are they any good on track?
Took a bit of a pasting from Clarkson, but we all know how that can be sometimes.
One thing I'm concerned about are the breaks, they look quite small so wonder how much punishment they could take?
Would appreciate anyone that currently has one or used to have one on track letting me know how they got on with their's!
Thanks

Having done quite a few track days in the FN2 2007 on Type R, they are really good fun on track........ But........ The brakes are shocking!!!!'
The first time I boiled the brake fluid and used a set of front pads, the second by going a little more gentle, I got away with just pads. The brakes just cannot take the track!

Would have thought a well looked after EP3 would be the better choice if you're venturing on track, unless there are other reasons to choose the newer car?
A lot of debate here it appears: http://www.pistonheads.com/gassing/topic.asp?h=0&a...

Agree 100%. Ep3's are great on track. More engaging lift off oversteer etc. I would do brake upgrade regardless for track work (grooved & vented bremtechs with ds2500 pads).A lot of debate here it appears: http://www.pistonheads.com/gassing/topic.asp?h=0&a...
I'd take the EP3, definitely. I'm sure the FN2 will be just fine on track, but it has missed those accolades from driving enthusiasts simply because I don't believe it's as good as the EP3. Mind you, I drove an FN2 before I'd even been in an EP3. I was really impressed with it, until I tried an EP3.
