Thinking of running slicks
Discussion
Yep, roll cage is integral in the Cerbera from the factory.
I know about the bushes and so on, I have spoken to a few chaps who race Cerberas and they are saying it does not cause too much of a problem on their cars, but if it does on mine, then, so be it.
Problem is that trackday tyres are likely to be made illegal for road use in 2014 (too noisey?)so they are likely to become very expensive, part worn slicks on the other hand are not looking so I will get some of those and road tyres for the rest of the time. Other problem is how to get a second set of wheels to the track, won't fit in the car so a trailor may become order of the day.
Thanks for the pointers, much appreciated.

Do you have a roll cage? I'd be reluctant to run slicks without one.
Also, slicks put a much larger load on suspension components, so you're going to have to replace bushes & so on much more often.
Interesting. Why the link between slicks and a rollcage? Also, slicks put a much larger load on suspension components, so you're going to have to replace bushes & so on much more often.
If you're driving the car to the track, I'd personally leave a cage out - can cause more injuries when not wearing a helment!!

My understanding (I'm by no means an expert) is that much higher corner speeds are possible with slicks, and they also tend to let go a bit more suddenly than treaded tyres. Coupled with the fact that corner entry is where mishaps are most common, it means larger impact forces if you meet the armco, or more flips if it goes really wrong. If you're driving the car to the track, I'd personally leave a cage out - can cause more injuries when not wearing a helment!!
Can someone let me know if I'm talking out of my arse?

At least the cage in the Cerb is well padded and covered in leather:-)
A few Pax laps from last week Volvo S70 T5, lets just say Thruxton second hand slicks at £30 each are slightly tooooo hard a compound to use unless track temps are in the 30's unless of course your at Thruxton.
