Anyone from here at Donnington today? (May 17th - Evening)
Discussion
I'm acutely aware that it wasn't the perfect track day. Unfortunately, we signed the contract for the day before realising it was the day before a funcup race meeting, and already had a dozen or more bookings before the funcups starting taking places.
Yes, in hindsight it would have made sense to either run in sessions or as an exclusive test day for the FunCups, but unfortunately, we'd already sold seveal places (including a large group booking for our r300 rentals) prior to finding out about the funcups so the reality was we just had to manage the situation. In all honesty it didn't go as badly as it could have - I gave one of the harshest drivers briefings I've ever given and I'd like to think (lack of mirror use aside) it did the job.

My only complaint would be that I booked a garage which was full of parked Ferrari's which were not even on track. Was not end of world as there were other free garages. Then surely the price should have reflected the fact that it was going to be a less than perfect track day...we shouldn't have been subsidising fun cup testing, it should have been the other way round! Funcup lap time around Donny is 1min 25 secs. They do have a top speed of 104mph though. I was running my engine in so limited to 4000rpm but still had to drive around other cars, notably black caterhams :-)
BTW, if you are so quick just drive around the outside, cannot imagine a Funcup driver complaining.

Sorry Wayne, I don't understand your point. We had the same number of cars booked on the day as we would have regardless of the make/model/driver and everyone paid the same.Out of interest, how many complaints did you lodge on the day regarding driving standards from the Funcups or otherwise? We respond to all complaints and removed 2 cars (6 drivers) from the day on Friday.

It was an OK day, I've had better but also had worse. The funcups were slow and didnt see to realise it, but then there are also others that don't move over. Jonny's briefing was the longest and most detailed Ive sat through.
We do all of our track days though BaT and will continue to do so because jonny does at least sort out the problems that he can see and the ones that are brought to his attention.

Easy said but overtaking is meant to be by consent and you are supposed to move to the right and let people past. The funcups, in the main, just sat on the left of the track and didnt give way. It's a track day not a race.BTW, if you are so quick just drive around the outside, cannot imagine a Funcup driver complaining.
