Hi Chaps,

Love the GFs vtec type R and would love that in RWD to replace my RX8.

However do people have to fit roll over bars or cages for trackdays? If so are they removable for roadtime?

Just wondering what people do. Not sure id want to track an s2000 without any roll over protection...?

Plenty track soft tops no rollover, including myself. Depends on ones attitude to risk.

Ive one. It is never even in question, they are all fine. There are the hoops and the windscreen frame will be designed to help as well.

If you want more protection, look at a hardog roll bar from the US, http://www.bethania-garage.com/s2000.htm . I managed to pick up a mugen equivalent used for a very good price, that will be going in soon for a bit of extra protection.

Absolutely. You can take an MX5 with no roll protection on track. As per the photo the S2000 already has some built in, so is way ahead on the safety front already.

Yes you can, might not want to though...

Fortunately these guys did have a roll cage.

Help For Heroes Bovington, interesting idea that turned in to a demolition derby.

Unless you are running slicks, then most organisers require rollover protection.

In that case I stand corrected, put a post on here a few weeks ago about running slicks and was informed that many organisers require a roll cage be fitted when running slicks, this must have been wrong.

I used to sprint in a RAFMSA run speed challenge and in the regs they stipulated that if you ran slicks you must have roll over protection.

Guess it makes sense higher corner speeds and greater 'g' force attained through greater grip levels?

Oh, perhaps I am wrong. Have only ran semi slicks without protection

Same. However, Gruffalo originally stated that you have to have protection when not running slicks.

I think you misread his post there. To me it says <paraphrase>"no roll protection required unless running slicks".
