Anyone doing this double header ? We have booked in on the basis that the Atom will be transported over and we will add a weekend in Milan before Monza and another in Florence after the Mugello day

We went to the Italian GP last year and after seeing it i really fancied driving Monza - recently saw the James Martin programme with Jackie Steward with the historic footage of Monza which was superb - didn't know Mugello but the Moto GP is there this weekend and from the beebs coverage it looks brilliant - loads of elevation etc

Should make for a great week

Anyway back to the point - who is coming ?

If I had a car that was suitable for a return trip Iof that length I might have done the same thing - a GT3 would be great fun in the Alps - my wife is willing to passenger in the Atom to Spa but a return trip to northern Italy in an Atom is too much to ask !!

We are spending the weekends in Milan and Florence in nice hotels and then joining the BaT group in the hotels Jonny has lined up so might see you on the Monday night

BaT are picking up the Caterham on their way past Paris for me . . . I've spectated at both Monza and Mugello for bikes and Mugello has always been on the to do list, Monza less so, but it'd be rude not too, it's a pretty special place to visit. So the opportunity to drive it is not to ignored.

Whether a 200bhp Caterham is the right tool for it or not, I don't care, I think it'll be great fun.

Should be at Spa in June, then again in November . . . . All as long as the engine gets back in the car in the next 2 weeks.

Am toying with the idea, but am a novice having only started tracking this year. I'll have done at least 12 days by the time that Italian job comes around inc Spa, but wondering if I should hold off until next year when I have more laps under the belt. Any views from those that have been to these tracks before?

Cheers

The issue with "holding off" is these trips are not run every year - first time BaT have done it as far as I now - Spa is a track several TDs do every year but those further afield are not ones you can be sure will be an option in the same way - there are other non UK TDs doing days at the tracks but that's a different experience/proposition especially when it comes to transport costs if you cannot drive your car there and back practically

I think the challenge has always been to get 2 tracks in Italy in the same week, not something they've managed before to make it a worthwhile trip, so as has been highlighted these are reasonably rare opportunities, so worth taking them when they appear.

I am giving it a lot of thought, however it looks like it will sell out before I am in a position to commit.

I'm going on this, having the Noble transported down with a set of slicks on it and driving the Sagaris down through the Alps with the north of Scotland Tvr owners 'mob', think there are about 15 cars, a few Sags, Tuscans, a noble, an ultima and a few Porsches.

We are catching the Saturday ferry from Newcastle to Amsterdam, stopping in Strasbourg and then onto Milan malpensa hotels.

Most of the group are just doing monza but I can't go that far for one track day so doing Mugello also.

I did the Eurohoon down to Sienna way back in 2005 (a fantastic trip - 3k miles taking in some stunning roads) - we had quite a range of cars and the convoys were really memorable- i went in a 997C2S, we had Astons, Ferraris etc - unfortunately all the TVRs broke down so bring some spares and tools

I've had the sag nearly a year and not a single breakdown, it's maybe saving them up for a big one. Always carry a big tool kit and spares anyway.

I'm sure you'll have a fantastic trip down - I still have positive memories of that Eurohoon - blasting through the passes in the Alps and then down through the Dolomites - fantastic times
