I'm booked on Silverstone GP in July with a friend and want to hire a car with support for the day.
Our preference would be Caterhams but open to other ideas.

Any suggestions of decent firms out there?

Cheers

We can obviously help here (see http://www.bookatrack.com). In the interests of this not being pulled for being an advert, you could also try swracecarhire.com, track-group.com and experience.caterham.co.uk.

Hope this helps.

I've hired BAT Caterhams a couple of times and been very impressed with the cars and the support and organisation on the day. I would definately use them again.

yes I've not used BaT before, but have heard good things about their cars. The R300 is pretty much the perfect fun trackday car too.

Rarely see steve's cars go wrong. He has good history with caterhams.

BAT price is fuel inclusive, SW is first 30 litres included only if I've read the website correctly.

which event are you looking at and how did you arrive at the figure of £1095? For the vast majority of events the cars are £725.

I can't comment on sw racing, though having done around 20 BaT R300 days, here's my 2p as to what (I expect) the major differences are:

- BaT fuel is inclusive throughout the day (I reckon I use around 3/4 tankfuls per day though this is dependent on the driver wink )
- Spare cars are usually on hand in case the one your using goes pop (this doesn't work if you bin it though!)
- Closer-tie in with the TDO so you can organise car hire and the track day place through the BaT website

As Jonny points out, the majority of BaT hire dates are around £725 for the car hire + £100 for the additional driver. IIRC the R300 superceded the R400 in many ways so there's no question of either being a superior car.

you were right im looking at silverstone gp + second driver. having done lots of rented caterham trackdays in the past with an outfit that doesn't appear to exist any more i appreciate the benefits of the larger BAT setup. its quite a hefty premium though on top of a 400 quid track day! that said access to the sv might swing it in any event because my friend is 6'3"

oops, bad info on the website. R300's on Silverstone trackdays have all been £725 for about 18 months now - once we started doing a lot more of the Goldtrack days there with the BaT cats, the price was dropped from £995 to £725. Which date are you looking at in July?

I have tried and failed miserably to try to hire a Track day car in the UK that has an automatic tranny / semi auto. Before you all jump up on down on my head saying why the fook would you want to do that, personal circumstances means I can only drive auto cars so I'm kinda limited in my choices.

Went to the ring a few years ago and hired a vw scirocco that had a DSG flappy paddle auto box and I loved it, so would like to have another go at it without having to drive all the way to Nurburgring and drive with Nutters for an afternoon.

Anyone got any suggestions / advice (Car I can borrow smile )

Sorry didnt mean to hijack the thread but seemed to be in keeping with the theme

You could try speaking to Stephen at Track-club.com, they have a selection of cars to hire.

I know they have a race 2-11 with a flappy paddle gearbox, but whether that is available for hire, I don`t know.

+1 Hired many cars with them before. Take the 211 (without flappy paddles!) that is available for hire. Used to be my dads car until we sold it to them....it's sensational round silverstone! Actually, we might have it booked up for then...

Just thought I'd let you know we had an awesome day using http://www.swracecarhire.com/ r400 at last weeks superb goldtrack day. properly fast r400, nicely setup and maintained throughout the day. didnt book a pit but steve had comfortable area for us all set up before the track opened and looked after us really well throughout the day. highly recommend them. thanks for all the recomendations above.

Many thanks to Jonny from BaT for the link. beer
