Looking forward to it. New R888's fitted today but rubbing on arches so back to garage tomorrow morn.
Just been live mapped as well today so quite a lot more mid range which will be good hopefully.

See you there, I'll be in the silver e36 m3 evo.

If its a stock exhaust he should be fine, is a shame for me but my track M3 runs a non stock set up, no probs at any normal uk tracks inc Goodwood, but I nipped down to Thrux for a noise test a week or so ago & no chance with the resulting 96db on a 90db day.

So as was really looking forward to this I swapped it round with my 328 which was garaged at 'ring, so that can whisper round Thrux with its bog standard catted 80something db.

I would love to do Thruxton but another who would fall foul of the ridiculously low db level. The majority of other tracks seem to be at least 98db or higher so it seems unfair that Thruxton is limited to such a low level, they must lose a fortune in missed track/test day opportunities. I'm surprised that with a lot of public support behind them and knowledge of other circuits levels they can't appeal against this limit and get it more in line with other circuits or at least much closer anyway.

I'm running a Supersprint 'Race' Stainless steel exhaust Cat back system on the m3.

I did a day at Thruxton a month or so ago and was fine with noise so am hoping it's still all ok.

Tyres finally not now rubbing so looking forward to it.

Enjoyed that.

Mike was your M3 the silver one? the M3 num plate on a silver one seemed similar to your surname, looked nice.

Were some 3 odd e36 M3s there, all driven pretty sedately, but looked good specs, the white one had some v odd lines indeed, but seemed to be better later on, or a different driver!

My off at Church yesterday.
Youtube Link
Whoops...

There is a bloody nasty bump just at the apex. Various damper settings didn`t really make much of a difference but by mid afternoon, it was having a consistent slide every lap but I knew it was there and it wasn`t an issue.

This was just before lunch, I`d had a less extreme moment a few laps earlier and it wasn`t a shock when it went, I don`t believe I hit the kerb, but just as it was about to straighten, the track feels to fall away a little and I think the rear just touched that tarmac change and went a bit more.

Despite my arm twirling, I couldn`t save it.

Quickest off I`ve ever had, everything happens so quickly ! (obviously)

Enjoyed the circuit more than I expected, fast but the bumps made it much more challenging. Corners that on smooth tarmac were no issue suddenly become very `interesting...` biggrin

Yes I was there in my Quantum RS turbo 2+2 with my wife driving it too.

We loved it after realising that we could take church flat and pull 110 up to the chicane.
I need bigger balls at other corners though!

Worst bit for me was the new petrol cap leaked worst than the one it replaced, bloody annoying.

I thought the car mix was superb and although a low db limit so was the test!
It is easier with a turbo because they tend to be quieter.

I ran some Uniroyal rainsports and they ripped up a bit but hey ho they are cheap.

That was it but it is supposed to be ocean blue but some see it as green LOL.
You are not alone not knowing what it is. Its a kit car that uses fiesta MK2 mechanicals and mine was built in the mid 90,s from a 1987 XR2 and with an Escort RS turbo MK1 motor. It is unusual in as much as it is a fibreglass monocoque braced by steel tubing and on test is torsionally 3.5 times stronger than an MGB.
All I know is that when I jack it up on the sills I can still open the doors and there are some saloons that wont do that.

I liked all your Golfs but have to admit that although I have owned a Scirroco GLI I have yet to own or drive a Golf GTI.

Hi Iguana

Sorry been crazy busy and first log on to PH since Trackday.

Yep mine was the e36 M3 KNV.

Only 3rd Trackday in that car and also last 4 years so was great to be out again.

Any idea what lap time is ok round Thruxton?

A little bird told me hypothetically I was around 1.36

For tintops this seems pretty swift! GT3 cup car James Sutton '11 1.13:8

For more normal cars to compare to-

Pete Morris 968CS '11 1.26:8

Pete is a cracking driver, but an E36 M3 has more power than a 968 so in good trackday spec should get in that ballpark.

I'm sure Woosher will have some times for his Golfy when he spots this, bit of vid below of him chasing me in the 328-

Thanks for that Iguana, nice to have some reference times.

What are you guys using to overlay the data on the video?

I have the Harry's lap timer app but had forgotten in the UK they don't like sucker mounts!
