Hey all,

Long time reader, first time poster.

Just wondering why there are no track days at Thruxton. Have seen the track on tv a few times, it's relatively close and seems like a good thing. What's the go?

I would imagine due to some idiot complaining about noise - that obviously moved near there after the circuit was build.

That's what fks everywhere else up in the motorsport world

keep it lit

My neighbours fight every night, do you think I could ask them not to live at their house 3 days a week? :P

Someone needs to get cracking on electric race car series. Or maybe we can all buy Audi R18s and we can race them?

Any takers?

Goldtrack run days there a couple of times a year, and MSE had a day there last month. The 90dB noise limit rules out a lot of cars though.

That just leeves standard road cars then I expect

They'd complain about the sound of the tyres squealing.

Nimbies always find SOMETHING...

Noise travels for miles and i know Snetterton for instance can be heard over a very large distance . No one wants to hear this, however, must be better than hearing neighbours fight on a council estate..

Some people have trousers that are too loud for a 90db day - it's been covered several times but unless you have a very very quiet car Thruxton is out of the question

Would be interesting to hear what kinds of cars Melindi had running on the Goldtrack day

We have road cars. Basic Porsches, lots of wives' cars and a splendid Pug outing.

IIRC When I was racing at thruxton several years ao and looking for a trackday to find my way around before hand I was told the following by the lovely Melindi " anything you cant take to waitrose and buy your weekly shopping in you cant take out", this means No stickered up stripped out cars, no radicals or caterhams et al no none std (loud) exhauts. Consequently I did an hour at the race school with an instructor, same price as a trackday but I learnt much more. Thruxton is brilliant by the way, very fast....

Council estate, heh... wink

Have a Cayman S that is relatively quiet and good fun. Think Thruxton would be really good quality.

Melindi, what's Thruxton cost to rent out total?

I've just done 2 trackdays at Thruxton and it is a brilliant circuit.

I signed up on one of the big trackday co's newsletters and they send out regular emails with the next 15 trackdays so picked them up early from there.

Well worth doing, so fast and lovely setting.

Take my decatted TVR shopping all the time - excellent boot. If I turn up at Thruxton with a boot full of bog rolls, will they let me in? Car was only 100 dB last time out

I asked Thruxton recently if I could organise a Charity TrackDay and their reply was: "I am sorry but our noise limit here is 90db and we don't hold special formula days here. In fact, our restrictions are such that we actually only hold 2 general testing days a year for race meetings!"

Great circuit! Great shame!

Just bought some ACT "stuff it up the rear" pipes to stuff up the rear and reduce noise.....we shall see. Will test it at Cadwell Park Thursday evening.
Shame is, mine was 90dB as a standard 4 litre, but I got carried away and now its 100 dB and 5 litres.
