Mintex vs EBC...
Discussion
I need some new pads for my 328 e36. I use it daily as well as a few trackdays a year. Have been using yellowstuff, ok for road, overheat quite easy on track and the pedal feel is poor when really hot. They lasted under a year, price has now gone up a bit too.
I can see some Mintex M1155 (I guess 55 should be suitable for my full weight bmw) for a comparable price. Anyone got experience with these, what are they like?
Of course, there is the old favourite Ferodo DS2500 which get good reviews, but are another step up in price. Perhaps they will last twice as long though in which case it represents good value?

Would not use EBC ever again, they were cr@p on my e36 328.
I have much larger front discs & 4 pot AP calipers, so am not sure on your set up but here is my experience.
1155 - I found to be pretty good, basically the same performance & feel as DS 2500.
Pagid RS29 - Brilliant, last forever & perform the best, but expensive.
DS UNO - Nearly as good as PAGID rs 29, but not quite so expensive, so swings/roundabouts.
Yellowstuff - similar performance to chewing gum really.

Iirc, some time ago i read somewhere that EBC materials are produced by none other than Mintex. It's all about branding! Oh admin, i do hope this is not deemed as an advert..................;)
Are you sure?EBC Website said:
EBC produces 100% of its brake pad range in its own factories in the UK and USA, 100% of its own motorcycle brake discs/rotors in its UK facility
I used to use 1155s on my '91 CRX (with standard braking hardware, blank EBC disks and SRF fluid). They were fine when cold on the road, and never faded at all on open pit sessions. Monstered the disks a bit, and the pads lasted about 3500 miles, though almost all the mileage was getting to track days and track driving.

Chap I do loads of track days with has used them for the last 4 years or more, gone through loads of sets of pads but the disks are good as new, AP disks in this case.Gassing Station | Track Days | Top of Page | What's New | My Stuff
