The Ring - here we come

Refreshing to see a topic about a ring trackday that isn't a Destination one.
Johnny why has it been so long since you last did one?
We ask every year (sometimes several times per year!) but this year is the first time we've been offered a date since 2010. Each circuit has their preferred operators and sadly we're not one of them at the Nordschleife.Johnny why has it been so long since you last did one?
That said, it's looking a bit quiet next week (less than 100 cars currently) so not sure we'll be desperate to go back next year anyway! Our Monza/Mugello trip in October is nearly full though - so it's all very odd - after 15 years in the industry I still have no idea what is a safe bet and what's high-risk!

I'd loved to have come, but with so many of my colleagues (with family) taking August holidays it means us 'singles' get to cover them.
I end up just taking long (non bank holiday) weekends and doing Touristenfahrt days instead, leaving the UK early on Friday, do a few laps on Fri evening, then a full day Sat, full day Sun, then home on Monday.
And it probably ends up costing more in lap tickets (for 40-50 laps) than it would for a proper private day like yours - but then it means I can go on the spur of the moment when workload allows.

This year there are an unusually large number of dates available at the 'ring and you were one of the last to announce - that is certainly going to be part of it. By not having regular dates there you also aren't blighted by the numbers being padded by too many lunatics from Italy and Scandinavia, and that is a good thing. News that it will be quiet is music to my ears though, so I am looking forward to it even more than before now.
Monza/Mugello is very tempting, but would have been much more so if Imola were also on the bill.... ?
If still not sold out after the BaT/DN double header I might still be tempted though (too much drama for me so far this year so only booking one trip at a time at the moment).

Would've been even better still if we could have arranged a track day at Monaco en-route! Sadly it's taken me best part of 10 years to get dates at those 2 venues in the same week, trying to get all 3 in the same week was never going to happen.I'm optimistic that once we have an existing relationship with both circuits we can benefit from greater flexibility and choice of dates in the future, hopefully introducing the option of Imola in the same trip. Either that, or it takes me another 10 years of asking to get the same again!

Back from an amazing trip. Stunning weather - at times almost too hot. Masses of track time for everyone and some great driving standards all round so thanks to all on track.
Superbly organised as ever, really slick - huge thanks to Jonny, Sarah and the entire team - the whole effort was immense and I don't believe it could be bettered.
Roll on the next one
