Was trying to map the circuit (using also the thread here) to see what is reasonable close to me (Bexley/Crayford).

Apart from Brands Hatch which are circuits are in this area where you can do track days?

Lydden Hill? That's about it as far as I know.

Why would you want to go anywhere else when you've got Brands Hatch on your doorstep!? I've been a couple of times a year since 2007 and paddock hill still has the pucker factor the first few times you go over!

To answer your question, Lydden Hill is the other track in Kent, but it's even shorter than Brands: http://www.lyddenhill.co.uk/track-days.html Other than that you'll need to go round the M25 and up the M40 to Silverstone which will probably be an hour and a bit from you.

Alternatively as you're so close to the chunnel you could go to Croi-en-Ternois, which is an hour or so short of Calais. Don't take your supercar though, it's very twisty and you'll get lunched by a local in his slick shod 106 Rallye.

Dont forget Brands GP is quite different to Brands Indy. So you have 2 options right there.

Brands is great but I was just wondering if it is not too complicated and dangerous if make mistakes, how good is the availability given that a lot of official events are held there regularly and also if it is, because of that, also substantially more expoensive than others

I live nr Rochester and the following tracks are eactly 2 hours +/- 10 minutes drive.

Silverstone: 1 hour 59 minutes
Bedford: 1 hour 58 minutes
Snetterton: 1 hour 57 minutes
Goodwood: 1 hour 53 minutes
Thruxton: 1 hour 54 minutes
Rockingham: 2 hours 4 minutes.
Castle Combe: 2 hours 22 minutes (Slight Anomaly but good track, Quarry is excellent)
Mallory Park: 2 hours 29 minutes (again proves my theory that they deliberately made things 2 hours way from me wrong!)

Oh, and if you fancy an airfield day:

Abingdon Airfield: 1 hour 57 minutes
Woodbridge: 1 hour 50 minutes

So, in conclusion, if you are willing to drive a little way there is plenty ontop of Brands and Lydden Hill... Just head in any direction and you are bound to stumble upon one!

Just spent the evening at Snetterton. Awesome track, with the extra 300 bit. Good fun despite the two hour drive home.

Try Lydden then if you are new to trackdays, can turn up (On a car trackday obviously) and do just a 20 minute session if you want. don't have to commit to a full day.

I would seriously suggest doing a half day or evening. It's enough.
On full days everyone goes rushing out at the start, but then spends progressively more and more time in the pits. The afternoon session sees few cars out on track, and people going home from 3pm. Last one I was on had only one car on track (out of 40) after 4.15. I did 187 miles, was exhausted at the end, and used £140 worth of fuel.
Last night we had 2.5 hours on track, less 20 minutes when a Focus RS had issues and dropped wet stuff on track, and it was plenty. Car, with two drivers, did 100 miles in that time, completely used a full tank of fuel ( you do less than half your normal mpg) and we both really enjoyed ourselves.

Lydden is a great track. Instruction is free too. Bill is a good instructor.
Croix en Ternois is also good, but very abrasive on tyres.
