I've got a track day booked at Cadwell in November and will be using my E36 328.

I need to replace a shock absorber as it's leaking and that leaves me with a dilemna;

Do I replace the rear shocks with standard ones again in a decent brand for a cost of around £100 or do I up the budget a little and buy some cheap coilovers.

This is a budget track car so I won't be spending £1400 on suspension... I probably won't be spending £300 so I will be at the proper gutter end of the coilover spectrum.

I don't intend to use the car regularly on track days, it's also used to do a very short hop to and from work so I don't need anything with amazing adjustability or external reservoirs.

I'm reluctant to buy cheap but I don't really have the budget now.

The second question is about helmets. I bought a Scorpion Exo 1000 for a previous track day and it's ACU approved, is this going to be suitable now or will the rules have changed regarding helmet approval standards?

I also need to buy one for the wife, she doesn't want to have a full face helmet as it makes her claustrophobic rolleyes

So, again, next to no budget, maybe £150... can I get a helmet which she can use for that cash?

Stock suspension won't be particularly nice on track, on a budget I'd buy used decent coilies. I got £1200 new set up for £450 & could use for a year & sell on for the same.

Helmets tons of threads on here about them, £50 can buy a decent bike lid.

On a budget, JOM coilovers are not too bad tbh. Obviously lacking compared to higher end kit, but good compared with a clapped out stock suspension.

Also look at V2 sports. Helmet fit is the most important. The Hedtecs don't fit everyone so try and get somewhere where she can try some on.
