Insurance for track day 'taster'
Discussion
I'm doing a taster session tomorrow at Oulton Park - only on track for 20 mins.
Insurance companies still seem to want £75 to cover this!
Has anyone done this and found a reasonable insurer who recognises that it isn't a full day on track?
And I kn ow I should be brave and just go uninsured for such a short time - but I'm still rather nervous about the idea.
Thanks for any advice.

You will only be able to claim once on the policy whether you crash it in the first 5 minutes of a 20 minute taster or the last 5 minutes of an all-day open-pitlane event.
As far as the insurer is concerned, the risk is probably the same, and that's why the premium is the same.
When I go to the 'Ring, I get a day's cover for about £200. Some days I get 25 laps, some days I don't manage to do 1 lap due to the weather, but there's no refund.

I'll be there tomorrow, it's my second one. Did my first back in March I think it was. Insurance companies still seem to want £75 to cover this!

I would say you wont need it based on the last one. It's managed really well in terms of overtaking is by invitation only, you follow a pace car round for the first 2 laps slowly increasing in speed to get you used to your surroundings which also spreads out the field.
Weather says it will be dry all day tomorrow too.
What car are you in?
