Track tyres

Looking for some 225/45 17s for the BMW and I'm not sure what to buy.

I'm looking at either Nankang NS2Rs, Federal 595RS-Rs or Syron street races

The Syrons are £65 a tyre! but I expect they'll be poo, the others are £95 a corner.

Which will be best?

Best, prob direzzas, then khumo v70, cups, federal fz, then 888, then of your list, I've run the older rs pre rsr & are ok but not in the league of the above,more a road tyre + a bit more track grip than the more focussed track tyres above, the rsr is a grippier tyre I belive, the rs2 is well rated by the mx5 lot but not known in on an e36 & more in the road tyre + a bit again is my thoughts.

If you want a road/track tyre then I'd suggest the Yokohama AD08 - if you can find them. A bit over £400 a set fitted. They have 8mm tread (they are a road tyre), excellent grip & wear rates.

There's a new softer compound arriving, but the old tyres are great anyway.

Depends on what you are driving - I adore my 888s, but I have not used anything else

KumhoV70 would be my choice, they are after all the control tyre used for the BMW Kumho cup, also the best tyre I have yet found, better than the Toyo R888 and the Fed RSR. If you cannot get the Kumho then the Fed FZ-201 would be my other choice.

Try ebay, I just got a set for mine FZ201's just used once in qualifying for £300, they are normally £185+ each.

I was going to get the 595's till these turned up.

I have AD08s on the T5... Seem to work rather well...

Silverstone FTZ are excellent I have found, not blisteringly expensive either

Always go for a trackday / road slick

It depends on the car to what's best

For a bmw (quite heavy) you would probably best go for the yoko but ideally Dunlop DG03

888s are awesome but suit light cars we have found

They were fine on our track car but dropped off after 8-9 laps, the dunlop a hold on to 17-18 before starting to squids, equally on our friends track car the 888s were good but didn't suit the weight
