BAT have just sent out a newsletter detailing their Italian trip in October and they are going to Monza. My question is how much power would you need to enjoy this track? I can't help think anything with less than 300bhp is going to be a bit of a yawn but then again I've never driven Monza.....

I guess a lot depends on how heavy the car is.......

How good do you have to be in the sack to enjoy a romp with Mila Kunis? I reckon it'd still be worthwhile even if you were cr@p to be honest.

Or to put it another way, if you got the opportunity to drive the complete Monaco F1 circuit but it had to be in a 1 litre Kia, would you turn it down on the basis that it wasn't an F1 car?

I for one am very excited at the prospect of driving around Monza and will be taking one of the minibuses we've rented if there's nothing else for me to use on the day :-)

Agreed . . .

I'm taking a 200bhp 533kg (with half a tank and before my fat 18stone gets in it) SV Caterham for this trip. The most I've seen out of it was at Snettertons back straight of 132mph. I'll be tucking myself out of the way along the straights for the Nobles/Porsches etc and enjoying myself through the twisty bits . . . . I can't wait, its Monza. I've been more than once before as a spectator and the bucket list of circuits included this, Imola and Mugello plus others. So to get the 2 in a week with a really good organiser . . . no brainier.

I had a great time in a bog stock- bar race pads, old e36 M3 road car, prob 270bhp, was some very exotic stuff there & I prob had the least bhp by 130bhp or so & half the power of many & still had a great time.

£500 with BaT tho lordy! think I paid £200

it is without doubt a track that suits GT2 types as it is effectively 5 big straights and the parabolica......went in July 2008 and teas a bit too hot tbh for the CSL but Oct should be good.

The caterhams will be hitting top
speed half way down each straight

with almost 400bhp/ton you probably won't see half that lot after you've annihilated them on the first corner...

Exactly what I was thinking, power to weight is almost meaningless at Monza. Plus the engine stress, a 1.0 Ford Ka is going to be flat for hours at a time!

No doubt the corners at Monza are excellent and if there are opportunities for slip-streaming then it would be a blast. You just have to team up with a car with a similar top speed and hope the driver can keep up with you in the corners!
