Any thoughts on brake pads that work well on track but aren't lethal on the roads? Currently got some Stop TEch ones on the s2000 but been looking at Greenstuff, Yellowstuff, Brembo, Dixcel and other options. I know its kind of car dependant but wondered on general opinions on finding the right balance between track and road, especially with winter coming.

Mintex 1144 on mine. Never had any issue either on track or hooning down an Alpine pass.. but the cars under 600kg fully loaded.

Pagid RS29. Pricey, but worth it.

When I bought the 4pot conversion kit for my E30, it came with Redstuff pads. I was skeptical to start with but I'm really impressed. Great on track and a decent cold bite too. I do have VERY good brake cooling though so that may mean i'm not exploring the higher reaches of pad temperatures.

Carbotech - fantastic. Fine on road.....biblical on track - no fade, very low wear rate and great power.

Just switched to the new Brembo HP2000 as I wanted a compromise for road and track. Very pleased with them so far.

Running Mintex M1144 with EBC 300mm ST170 discs on my Puma, great all-round performance on road and track.

Another vote for Carbotech. I run XP10s, they're a bit noisy on the road but bite well from cold and work great on track.

Yellowstuff don`t fade and do the job for not a lot of money, but have average pedal feel. If you are starting out, they are fine IMO.

I run Carbone Lorraine RC6E`s. Brilliant pads.

Just fitted Yellowstuff pads, some fresh super blue fluid and HEL front brakes lines to my Mx5.

Will report back after the weekend.

DS2500 on my Clio and think they are great.

Have used Mintex 1144 in the past on the Clio but didn't rate them.

I've got yellowstuff all round with Superblue fluid in my 2006 MX5, and so far am very happy with them - great stopping power on the road, even from cold, and consistent braking on track (done 2 days and about 2000 miles so far), with not a hint of fade, even after a 30 minute session on track at Blyton.

I'm pretty happy with them overall!

I think Yellowstuff on a lightish car like an MX5/S2000 should work quite well

RS4-2 but quite big pads 132mmx54mm on a small car <1000kg if you can get away with a mild pad why not, generally better feel and work better at normal temps when not on track.

There so many examples of the *stuff brake pads melting away I would want to go that route. On my cars ive tried some different pads, a favourite is the Hawk Hp+, incredible value since the performance are really good, never fading and long lasting. The drawback is loads of brake dust and sometimes some cold squeeling. Tried some Carbotech Xp8s aswell but they were similar as the hawks at more than twice the price.
