Bedford Autodrome 23rd November
Discussion
Is anybody booked in or considering this track day?
I have driven Bedford Autodrome twice now and love it there. These were well organised days from Track & Tour Events. Fun, sensible numbers & not at all intimidating.

What a good idea, Bedford is great for stretching the legs and pushing the limits a bit.I have driven Bedford Autodrome twice now and love it there. These were well organised days from Track & Tour Events. Fun, sensible numbers & not at all intimidating.

I'll try to get a day off!
Tuition is a great idea. You'll feel like a King afterwards.
Just ease into things, and try to remember your braking & turning points. This isn't so easy at Bedford, because it's such an open area with little in the way of reference points.
If it's wet, do not use the kerbs. And don't be intimidated by other cars/drivers - drive the day as if you are the only one there.

Just booked onto this also.

On the "drive the day as if you are the only one there", not so sure about that. Preferably allow faster people to overtake you on the straights where possible
they'll outline all of this in the briefing however

Agree on the tuition bit. I've not had tuition at Bedford, but at a few others place it was worth every penny Just ease into things, and try to remember your braking & turning points. This isn't so easy at Bedford, because it's such an open area with little in the way of reference points.

Thanks for the tips. How long does the briefing normally last? I'm Looking forward to it but the car is a bit of an unknown at the minute because I only pick it up on Wednesday so I've got no time to get used to it (197 Clio) !! I'll probably take it really easy so I can get a bit familiar with the track and work out what I need to get sorted on the car for next time. Come and say hello, I'll be the guy in the red Clio trying to look like he knows what he's doing :-)

The briefing is normally about 30 minutes and just runs through the rules of the day to make sure everyone is familiar with the format. If in doubt, ask. It's normal and recommended to start of the day slowly and get used to the conditions and track before building it up.
You'll have a great time and should be used to how the car handles by the end of the day

I'll be in my green (often confused as black) Audi S2 if anybody wants to say hello or fancies a passenger ride

I certainly didn't mean it in that vein. What I meant was that you shouldn't allow yourself to be intimidated by others or others' cars. Of course, be respectful & watchful of what is happening behind you. It does you no good holding anybody up by being heroic. My friend, Ross, will be there in his red Porsche 944. I'm in an orange BMW 1M. Please do say hello.

Twas another great day: I had a lot of fun. The weather threatened, but didn't really deliver. I did try to approach a couple of you. But I kept getting stumped.
I approached you Sir, in the red Clio, a couple of times. But every time I walked over you were just starting up & heading out onto the track again!
How did we all get on?

Had a brilliant first track day at Bedford! Emptied nearly two tankfuls of unleaded. Completely killed the brakes on the Clio so I'll need to get them sorted before the next one. Really liked the circuit and managed (just) to stay on it.
Sorry I missed you Kyri - your BMW 1M looked amazing. How was it after the track day?
Cheers, Jon
