Hi All,

I am possibly looking to buy a car that's been imported from Japan, turned into a race car and never used. Its never been registered since import.

Would it still be eligible to be driven around the ring on tourist and track days, as well as other tracks in Europe?

Or does a car need to be registered with V5 and reg plates etc?

Thanks
Jay

Depends on the track and organiser, however 'non road registered' vehicles are not allowed on tourist/public days at the 'Ring - and there are also constraints on what 'road legal' race cars are allowed (constraints around types of roll cage, race seats, etc.).

Non road registered car on a Tourist day?
How on Earth are they going to fleece your insurance when you glance a barrier or drop a bit of coolant?

Thanks mate, i guess we could put it through an SVA and get it road registered. Or just stick to track days at the Ring.

Normal insurance doesn't cover the ring anyway, glance the barrier and its coming out of your pocket.

Ah, excuse my cynicism... (I just see it as a cash machine for the owners, which is sad)
that, however, makes it worse.

It is, but its the chance we take to drive the most awesome tarmac in the world. With track days i don't think its a problem which is good. You only "if you want to" get track day cover for your own car.

bit of a myth that, insurance companies do have to cover you by law on the nurburgring, they have to pay out, however they can try and claim the money back afterwards.
