Brands Indy Friday the 13th?
Discussion
I was there in my blue BMW 1 series. It was a very slippery day and I was grateful for the partial DSC.
I took a ride in Tom Chilton's GTR which was totally mental. I am amazed we didn't die.
I was quite sad to see that lovely Jag E type looking so damaged later in the day. Did anyone see where it went off?

It was a bit slippy today! (2 spins for me today till I learned better lines).
was a good day, not too busy, some nice cars there.
Just a shame it never dried out.
What car were you driving?
White Clio 200. I spun it on my third lap after lunch (did half a day) at Graham Hill bend. You in the red Escort ?was a good day, not too busy, some nice cars there.

He lost it coming out of Druids, was a few seconds ahead of me. I didn't see him go just the sad sight of him up against the barrier half way down the hill.Rs2oo said:

The clio looked good. I was in the black stock hatch Saxo no' 99.Was a shame to see the lovely old E-type get damaged, we had commented how good it was to see an old classic like that being used on track and then it was really sad to see if come back in damaged.

I was thinking exactly the same thing. A wet December day at brands its probably not the best day for it though Was a shame to see the lovely old E-type get damaged, we had commented how good it was to see an old classic like that being used on track and then it was really sad to see if come back in damaged.

There was a fast new Fiesta ST, really surprised me the pace it was setting.

I really struggled with the tyres. My initial mistake was thinking the new tyres I just fitted - Continental Contact 3 - would be as effective in the wet as they are on a dry track. I also turned the Traction Control off thinking I could feel my way round the corners better. Wrong and wrong ! First time I've done a track day in the wet soon realised the best way round was different lines, less right foot and Traction Control turned ON. Was really good though in the conditions to be able to stay on the same lap times as cars with a lot more BHP. My mate was there in his liquid yellow GTR and he was really struggling with his tyres. I went out with him and he couldn't get the power down especially at Clearways. How Mr Clilton can drive that fast is mind blowing. Your Saxo went well. What is the spec and what tyres were you using ?.

It was a huge difference in grip between the normal dry line the wrong line once we worked that wet line out things really speeded up - it was good fun trying to keep up with much quicker cars that would have disappeared in the dry (my car is only 105 bhp 8v) with Yokohama semi slick tyres Ao48's which weren't getting any heat into the rears at all, after a big spin and then another almost spin at Paddock I put the pressures down to 22 psi and it was a lot better. Learned quite a lot during the day as was the first time I've driven that car in the wet.Gassing Station | Track Days | Top of Page | What's New | My Stuff
